The CFL season kicks off Thursday night with the defending Grey Cup champion Montreal Alouettes hosting the B.C. Lions (7 p.m. Eastern) and carries on throughout the weekend. Canada Day sees a Friday Night Football doubleheader with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (6 p.m. Eastern) and then the Toronto Argonauts visiting the Calgary Stampeders (9 p.m. Eastern), and the weekend wraps up with the Saskatchewan Roughriders hosting the Edmonton Eskimos Sunday night (7 p.m. Eastern). All games will be broadcast live on TSN. To get you set for what should be a fascinating CFL season, we've got what should be a great preview chat below. Panelists include Steve McAllister, Yahoo! Canada's managing editor (sports), Ian Denomme, Yahoo! Canada's associate sports editor, myself, and our newest CFL blogger, former CFL offensive guard Sandy Annunziata. We also have some special guest panelists, including Kent Ridley of Ridley Scouting, Rob Pettapiece of The CIS Blog and Jared Book of No Fair Catches.
We'll talk about everything from Montreal's hopes for a three-peat to B.C.'s new stadium and home Grey Cup, Edmonton's rebuilding efforts, Toronto's search for a quarterback, Hamilton's attempts to knock off the Alouettes (and quarterback Anthony Calvillo, seen above), Winnipeg's quest to climb out of the cellar and Saskatchewan's attempt to take home the big prize. Other subjects we'll cover include the top rookies we can expect to see make an impact this year and which coaches make the best decisions on third down. Come chat all things CFL with us, and bring your questions and comments about what you expect to see in the CFL this season! The chat starts at noon Eastern (9 a.m. Pacific) below the jump.
