Fantasy trade season is open -- buy these guys cheap!

When the bye-weeks begin, trade season is officially open. Let's consider three buy-low opportunities heading into Week 4...

QB Cam Newton – OK, so Cam hasn't been everything you hoped for, and he's clearly playing at something slightly less than 100 percent. His line isn't great, and he's still getting to know most of his receivers. But that's why he's a buy-low. We know this is a talented player, and guy who's ranked among the scoring leaders at his position every year of his career. Down the road, when the calendar flips to November, Newton will feast on a steady diet of soft division opponents, with a few other user-friendly Ds thrown in (Philly, Minnesota, Cleveland). You'll love the ride in the second-half. Buy him at a discount now, use him as part of a platoon until his schedule eases up.

WR Wes Welker – Denver is on a bye in Week 4, as are five other teams. There's no way Welker's owner is attached to the receiver, because he's been occupying a bench spot since draft day. And he has the concussion history, plus the relatively light workload in Week 3. If the dude who owns Welker in your league is, say, 1-2 at the moment, then he or she will be a motivated seller. Let's not forget that Welker caught 10 touchdown passes in just 13 games last season, and he's tied to the game's most dominant quarterback. He's certainly worth a flier.

RB Doug Martin – It isn't often that a player gains value by missing a game, but that's exactly what happened with Martin in Week 3. He's not tainted by the Bucs' embarrassing loss to Atlanta, and he'll presumably see a healthy workload upon returning to action in Week 4. Tampa travels to Pittsburgh to face a defense that's allowed 5.1 yards per carry to opposing rushers thus far, so the matchup shouldn't scare you off. If Bobby Rainey ever had a shot to force a job-share, he likely fumbled it away against the Falcons.
