Jordan Spieth, Dez Bryant surprise Scripps National Spelling Bee co-champions

Fifth-grader Nihar Janga and seventh-grader Jairam Hathwar, co-champions of this year’s Scripps National Spelling Bee, have each heard their share of congratulations, but a couple of well-wishers have stood out among the rest.

Hathwar, who hails from Corning, N.Y., said he is an avid golf fan and took inspiration from Spieth.

After Janga correctly spelled “gesellschaft” to earn his share of the trophy, he threw up the “X” in homage to his hero, Bryant.

On an appearance of “Live! With Kelly” Tuesday, Hathwar was surprised with a video message from Speith. Spieth congratulated Hathwar on his achievement and invited the 13 year old to visit him when he plays in New York later this year.

Janga also heard from his favorite athlete. Bryant tweeted out a message to Janga after watching his winning celebration and invited him to catch a game at AT&T Stadium.
