Is competitive eating a sport?

It's time for the Fourth of July, and that means it's time for all of us to gather around the grill and devour unsafe quantities of grilled meats. Some of us will even get paid for it! Those lucky souls are the competitors in the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating contest, and each will try to choke down dozens of dogs in the couse of 10 minutes.

It's amazing, it's delicious, it's even a bit terrifying, but is it a sport? That's our topic of debate today. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
