Wimbledon, Day 8: Sloane Stephens, the last American at Wimbledon, is out

Tuesday at Wimbledon meant the quarterfinal matches for all the remaining women, and it also meant the end of a potential American winner. Sloane Stephens, the last remaining American in singles for both the men and the women, lost her serve in the second set, falling to Marion Bartoli 6-4, 7-5.

It was a strange match that not included a rain delay mid-game, but also eight straight games that ended with the server getting broken, but Stephens couldn't keep the magic going and was bounced in her bid to make her first semifinals at Wimbledon.

Sabine Lisicki, who took out Serena Williams in epic fashion, was able to keep the momentum going as she beat Kaia Kanepi 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals of Wimbledon for the second time in the last three years.

Li Na and Agnieszka Radwanska were the two highest ranked players left in a crazy Wimbledon tournament, and both got each other on Tuesday with a chance to advance to the semifinals.

Radwanksa ended up winning in three sets, but it was how many match points that Na fought off that was the most impressive. Radwanska took a big lead in the third set, but needed eight match points before finally putting Na away and advancing to her second straight Wimbledon semifinal.

Most thought heading into the quarterfinals that Petra Kvitova was the favorite to win at Wimbledon, but the only player left in the final eight that had won this tournament was taken out by Kristen Flipkens 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Flipkens had only five unforced errors the entire match, compared to Kvitova's 28, and her play has her in the semifinals of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career.

This is the look of a player that not only pulled off the upset of the quarterfinals but is advancing to her first semifinals ever.

"Too much tennis the last few days," says Agnieszka Radwanska after her match about her legs being tired. "I think this is a good problem to have."

I've heard of tandem bikes, but tandem ponchos?! The English think of everything!

Wednesday brings the men of Wimbledon to the spotlight, with all four quarterfinal matches going out just like the women did on Tuesday.

David Ferrer and Juan Martin del Porto are first on Centre Court, with Andy Murray and Fernando Verdasco following them.

On Court 1 it's Novak Djokovic and Tomas Berdych leading things off, with Lukasz Kubot and Jerzy Janowicz playing when they conclude.
