Second seed Roger Federer defeated Damir Dsumhur 6-1, 6-3, 6-3, on Tuesday morning as Fed started his pursuit of his eighth Wimbledon title. The 17-time Grand Slam champion needed only 67 minutes to secure the win.

Federer won 85 percent of his first-serve points and dominated at the net, winning 19 points on 28 approaches.

"I was happy I played aggressive... He hung around, changed up his game a little bit which also made it a bit more difficult. I'm always happy to win," he said.

As Federer cruised on Centre Court, tenth-seed Rafeal Nadal had a slightly harder match on Court One. But despite a series of unforced errors, the two-time Wimbledon champion defeated Thomaz Bellucci, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4. Nadal looked better than his showing at the French Open, but definitely still has far to go before returning to top form.

"It was a very positive victory," Nadal said after the win. "Straight sets, no bad feelings, good backhands. The forehand needs to be a bit more aggressive."

Later Tuesday, as temperatures spiked into the 90s, No. 3 Andy Murray defeated Mikhail Kukushkin 6-4, 7-6, 6-4. The Twitter account Weather Wimbledon reported highs of 30-degrees Celsius – about 86 degrees Fahrenheit. The thermometer at Center Courte showed it was more like 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

"I'm very glad to get through on a very hot day against a tough opponent," Murray said after the match. "I missed 10 or 11 serves in a row at the end of the second set and he took advantage... There's definitely work to be done but I felt Kukushkin hit some great shots so credit to him, and I'm glad to get it done in three sets."

Tuesday's three straight-sets win for these top seeds adds to Monday's straight-sets wins by No. 1 Novak Djokovic and No. 4 Stan Wawrinka. Giles Simon and Jo-Wildried Tsonga also advanced on Tuesday.

Federer will next face the winner of the match between Sam Querrey and Igor Sijsling. Nadal will face Dustin Brown, Djokovic takes on Jarkko Nieminen, Murray draws Robin Haase.

Wawrinka will play Victor Estrella Burgos of the Dominican Republic. Burgos made his Grand Slam main-draw event debut at last year's French Open, at the ripe age of 34. He lost in the first round at Roland Garros and Wimbledon before making a run to the third round at the U.S. Open. He made on Monday, defeating Benjamin Becker in four sets, 5-7, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4, to become the first Dominican to win a match at Wimbledon.

While the top-seeded men cruised on Tuesday, the women's draw saw several seeded players ousted early. No. 3 Simona Halep was the lowest seed to go, falling 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 to Jana Cepelova. No. 12 Eugenie Bouchard, the runner-up at Wimbledon last year, fell to qualifier Duan Ying-Ying 7-6, 6-4. Britain's Heather Watson knocked off No. 32 Caroline Garcia in three sets.

Second seed Petra Kivitova started her 2014 title defense with a straight-set win over KiKi Bertens. No. 5 Caroline Wozniacki, seeking her first Grand Slam title, advanced with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Wimbledon newcomer Saisai Zheng.

So far seven of the 16 American women have advanced. No. 21 Madison Keys could bring the total to eight if she wins her match against Stefanie Voegele.
