Sources: Matt Miazga turns down contract offers from New York Red Bulls

New York Red Bulls defender Matt Miazga has turned down offers on a new contract to clear the way for a move out of Major League Soccer, likely to Europe, multiple sources have told Yahoo Sports.

The 20-year-old defender has declined from the Red Bulls "significant pay-raise offers that would have multiplied his current contract," according to a source.

The Supporters' Shield winners recently exercised an option on Miazga for the 2016 season, which is the final year of his deal with the league. After the season, he would be able to leave on a free transfer.

A FourFourTwo report linked Miazga with Chelsea, Leicester City and Stoke City. A source confirmed that Miazga, a Polish-American who holds a European Union passport, has "three Premier League teams trailing him."

In 2015, Miazga started a career-high 24 games with the Red Bulls, and his stellar play earned him a U.S. men's national team call-up for World Cup qualifying, where he earned his first cap.

Miazga's salary for 2015 was $68,250, according to the MLS Players Union. One league source said that Red Bull hopes to work out a transfer deal that will allow Miazga to finish out the 2016 season before heading overseas.

Montreal Impact outside back Ambroise Oyongo also could be leaving MLS. According to a league source, clubs in England and Turkey are interested in the 24-year-old Cameroon international, and a move could happen as early as the summer transfer window.

Derby County and Burnley of England's second-tier Championship are candidates to make summer bids. The Red Bulls, who retained a sell-on clause in their trade with Montreal last offseason, would receive a portion of any transfer fee.
