Carli Lloyd continues hot streak, wins NWSL Player of the Month

The accolades for U.S. women’s national team midfielder Carli Lloyd just keep on coming.

Lloyd was named the National Women's Soccer League Player of the Month by the media after helping her team post a 2-0-1 record during July. This on the heels of helping lead the USWNT to its first FIFA Women’s World Cup title in 16 years. She scored three goals in the World Cup final against Japan and was named the most valuable player of the tournament.

She continued her hot scoring streak upon returning to the NWSL with three goals in the month of July, including this scorcher that was one of the league’s best goals of the season.

Shockingly, this was the first time Lloyd had been named NWSL Player of the Month and she’s the first Houston Dash player to receive the honor.
