You can name Bath City’s stadium (almost) whatever you want for a mere £50

With just £50 and a bit of luck, you could rename Blue Square Premier League side Bath City's ground anything you want for a whole season. The 2012/13 naming rights to Twerton Park -- built in 1909 and home to nonleague Bath City since 1932 -- will be put up for grabs in a drawing open to pretty much anyone. Laugh at the price if you like, but it's at least £50 more than what Newcastle are getting for changing St. James' Park to Sports Direct Arena earlier this season.

The Bath City chairman, Manda Rigby, said the idea was that those interested would pay £50 to enter a draw. The winner would be pulled out of hat and rename the stadium as he or she saw fit.

Rigby said: "We pride ourselves on being innovative at Bath City, and the stadium name draw is just the most recent example. We hope that businesses locally and nationally will recognise the tremendous value of acquiring the naming rights to our ground for just £50 but we also want our fans and the general public to get involved as well." Rigby is entering the draw herself but for the moment keeping her choice of name secret.

According to the report, the drawing is open to "businesses, fans and even rival supporters." But there are restrictions placed on what the winner can choose, including "hate speech (either against groups or individuals), overt political messages, derogatory statements about Bath City Football Club, or statements supporting another sports club or sport." And if that turns you off entering the draw, know that the winner also gets four tickets for the club's match against Forest Green Rovers in April.

So whether you want to name it the Ballbag Arena, keep it as Twerton Park or troll Newcastle and rename it Sports Direct Park for an actual monetary fee, the next chapter in this football ground's long history could be its most magical yet (you can enter the draw here).
