Miroslav Stoch’s 2012 Puskas Award winning goal of the year

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic's instantly famous overhead kick just missing the nomination deadline, 23-year-old Miroslav Stoch was able to take the 2012 FIFA Puskas Award for goal of the year. His stunning volley off a corner kick for Fenerbahce in a Turkish Super Lig match against Genclerbirligi beat out other finalists Atletico Madrid's Radamel Falcao and 2011 winner Neymar to the award (see all the goals shortlisted here).

Making the award all the more special for Stoch is the fact that he's in the midst of goal drought at the moment. He has yet to score in 19 appearances this season after notching a career high 12 goals last season. Maybe this tribute to his more prolific times will help get him back on the scoresheet.

Previously: Neymar's 2011 winner and Hamit Altintop's 2010 winner
