Jose Mourinho thinks the Premier League Manager of the Month award is cursed

Southampton's Ronald Koeman has been named Premier League Manager of the Month for September and Jose Mourinho couldn't be happier for him. First because he thinks his friend Ronald deserves it. And second because he thinks the award is cursed and wants nothing to do with it himself.

According to Mourinho, the manager of the month always loses the match after coming into contact with the evil within the award. He cites Swasea manager Gary Monk, who won for August and then lost to Chelsea, as an example. The last to men to win it for the 2013/14 season were Tony Pulis, who is currently out of a job, and Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers, who had the title slip through his fingers.

Mourinho won the award three times during his first stint with Chelsea (November 2004, January 2005 and March 2007). He won after claiming it each time, so this curse must have fallen upon the award between when he left the league in September 2007 and when he returned before last season. This definitely means that Mourinho cursed it himself.
