Frustrated Leo Messi punches Celta Vigo player in the back

A day after the birth of his first child, Lionel Messi hoped to score a goal (or five) to dedicate to his newborn son in Barcelona's match against Celta Vigo. Though Barca extended their unbeaten start to 10 matches with a 3-1 win, the likely exhausted Messi was kept off the scoresheet.

Perhaps it was combination of the emotions of the last 48 hours and his rare inability to score, but when Celta Vigo's Jonathan Vilma broke up one of his attacks on goal, Messi responded by delivering a weak punch to Vilma's back. This prompted a standoff as an angry Messi was held back by Celta players.

At the end of the match, Messi suffered an injury scare when he took a knock to the knee, but Barca manager Tito Vilanova later confirmed he was fine.

Here's a photo of the personalized boots Messi wore for the match, featuring his son's name on the side...
