Abby Wambach scores goals even when she’s not trying to

As part of the U.S. women's Olympic victory tour, they played a friendly against Australia in Colorado that also served as coach Pia Sundhage's last match before returning to Sweden. Though the U.S. eventually won 6-2, the score was still even at 2-2 in the 53rd minute when Alex Morgan took a shot from just outside the box that deflected off Abby Wambach's foot, floated towards the far post as the keeper dove towards the near post, took a big bounce and spun its way into the goal.

Wambach appeared to be trying to get her foot out of the way of Morgan's shot when contact was made, but it was her touch that started the ball's unusual path to the net so she was credited as the scorer. And with that goal, she is now just 12 behind Mia Hamm's all-time record. She will likely score her next one while asleep at home on a non-matchday.
