Plaxico Burress wants to play for Eagles

The New York Jets would like to have wide receiver Plaxico Burress back on their roster next season, according to the New York Post, but he says he would like to pull on the uniform of the Philadelphia Eagles next year.

Burress gained himself some lifelong fans in the Big Apple when he scored the Super Bowl-winning touchdown for the New York Giants back in 2008 with the clock running down, but also then got himself a lot more attention when he shot himself in the leg in a nightclub and got sent off to the slammer. He told a Philadelphia radio station Tuesday that he'd love to join the Birds next season, the Post reports.

"Nothing else would make me happier," Burress told the station, according to the paper. "Obviously, coming to Philadelphia and instituting myself to the offense it just adds a unique dynamic to what's already in place."

The 34-year-old Burress, who was selected eighth overall in the 2000 draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers out of Michigan State, caught the ball 45 times last year for 612 yards and eight touchdowns.
