Robert Griffin III is not on the U.S. women’s water polo team

The 2012 U.S. Olympic women's water polo team stopped by "The Tonight Show" on Thursday to greet Jay Leno/take part in some NBC corporate synergy. While there, it added a new member to the team: Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.

The No. 2 pick of last month's NFL draft joined the team for a group picture that gets better every time you look at it. Why is he on the floor like a short kid in a class photo? Why is his leg up a la Farrah Fawcett? How did he get in the photo in the first place? Was it a civilized photobomb?

Apparently, Griffin was posing for individual photos with the team members when NBC's official photographer suggested a group shot. RGIII tried to fill in on the right, then on the left and finally decided to sprawl out, swimsuit-issue style, on the floor.

The water polo team was officially announced Thursday. Eight of the 13 players are previous Olympians. The Americans are ranked sixth in the world but have won six of the last seven major international competitions. In Beijing, the team won the silver medal.
