Watch spectacular collision on breakaway, as goalie Jake Theut flips shooter (VIDEO)

In Dec. 2007, Dominik Hasek had one of the most brutally memorable highlights of his career: Skating far out of his crease to take on Marian Gaborik during a breakaway, then diving to the ice to flip the then-Minnesota Wild winger skates-over-shoulders onto the ice:

Jake Theut is the goalie for the St. Mary's Lincolns of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. We’ll assume that like other keepers in his generation, the Dominator had an influence on young Mr. Theut. From a game earlier this month, watch him skate out and spectacularly flip Josh Kerstner of the Sarnia Legionnaires on a breakaway chance:

Crazy action on that play, what with Kerstner dipping to one knee to control the puck a moment before he tumbles over Theut’s outstretched body.

According to the clip’s uploader on YouTube, no one was hurt on the play. Which is good to hear because that shooter got wrecked.

s/t Bob’s Blitz for the tip.
