Watch Red Wings’ Jakub Kindl go backhand roof for unfortunate own-goal (VIDEO)

It wasn't exactly an optimal start for the Detroit Red Wings on Easter Sunday vs. the Chicago Blackhawks. Jeremy Morin opened the scoring for the Hawks just two and a half minutes in, then Brandon Saad made it a two-goal lead less than a minute later.

But it could have been worse. Imagine if, say, less than a minute after that, Red Wings' defenceman Jakub Kindl shovelled a backhand into his own goal to make it 3-0. Yeah, that would just be the worst:

Immediately after Kindl's saucy backhand in tight -- on which Jimmy Howard didn't stand a chance -- a rooster crowed three times.

Dave Bolland got credit for the goal -- Chicago's third in 99 seconds.

It's not hard to see what he was trying to do. With the Blackhawks buzzing in the Detroit end, Kindl pounced on a loose puck in front of Jimmy Howard, kicked it to his stick, then attempted to flip it behind the goal, where it was far less of a threat to go into the goal. But a light slash from Jimmy Hayes was enough to alter Kindl's release, leading to this face from Mike Babcock:

"I should have gone to church."

On the bright side, it's Easter Sunday, so the Red Wings just set themselves up for one hell of a resurrection, and win or lose, there will be postgame chocolate. Unless an angry Babcock confiscates it all, which is a possibility.
