Watch Joakim Lindstrom drive Linus Klasen’s head into the ice in Swedish league (VIDEO)

Joakim Lindstrom used to play for the Columbus Blue Jackets and Colorado Avalanche. Apparently, some of North American hockey's delightfully violent tendencies followed him back to Sweden, where he currently plays for Skellefteå AIK of the Elitserien.

Here's Lindstrom on Saturday, delivering what appears to be a Dwayne Johnson-style Rock Bottom on Linus Klasen of Luleå HF. (Alas, the video fails to indicate if he previously set it up with the People's Elbow.)

Flipping through our Elitserien rules guide, we see nothing to indicate the legality of grabbing your opponent by the face and then ramming his skull to the ice. So it appears the referee — who, furthering our theory on Lindstrom's IQ at the moment, was standing inches away — got this one right.

Klasen suffered a concussion on the play, and left the game. It was assumed that he'd miss several more games, but he's actually expected back on Saturday night after only missing one game.

As of now, the Swedish league's disciplinary committee hasn't ruled on Lindstrom, but we'll update when there's news available. (UPDATE: Reader Joacim Stoltz reports it's a 2-game suspension.)
