Watch awesome stick save by KHL’s Atte Engren (Video)

In the grand pantheon of goalie saves, the ‘reaching back with the stick to make a desperation deflection after making the initial save’ has to be one of our favorites.

Witness this stop by Atte Engren of Spartak (coached by German Titov!) in their 3-1 win over Omsk on Saturday. Alexander Perezhogin takes the initial shot on goal, which Engren saved.

Perezhogin (remember him, Montreal Canadiens fans?) then took a second shot into what appeared to be an open net … until Engren lunged over and knocked the puck away with his paddle.

Engren was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the seventh round in 2007, but only appeared with the Milwaukee Admirals for 27 games in two seasons.  He's played in the KHL for the last three seasons.
