Watch awesome stick knob save by Stanislav Galimov of KHL (Video)

Ask a goalie about an awesome save with the knob of his stick, and he’ll tell you it was all about his mechanics and positioning.

Ask a shooter about the same save, and he’ll tell you all of that is [expletive] and what should have been a goal was instead a lucky desperation deflection.

One imagines those were the reactions from Stanislav Galimov, a career KHLer and goalie for AK Bars, and Roman Konkov, a forward for Torpedo. As Galimov scrambled around his crease with Torpedo buzzing, Konkov snapped a shot that looked like it was headed to top left corner of the net.

But Galimov reached out his arm and the puck flew off the knob of his stick and into the netting, to stop play.

The reaction from Konkov is all you really need to see. That poor, poor stick.

Torpedo would go on to win in a shootout, 3-2.
