Rangers Stanley Cup ticket prices on secondary market rising above $2,000
The New York Rangers haven't announced when tickets for Games 3, 4 and 6 of the Stanley Cup Final at Madison Square Garden will go on sale, but you can imagine they won't last very long. So when fans who missed out attempt to get their hands on some ducats they'll have to resort to the secondary market, and that won't be cheap.
According to TiqIQ, the average price for one of the three potential Rangers home games in the Final is north of $2,000 for seat.
The average cost for a seat for Game 3, the first Cup game at MSG since Game 7 in 1994, is currently sitting at $2,202.72. Game 4, a possible Cup-clinching game if a sweep is in the cards will set you back $2,419.57. For Game 6, which would potentially be both the last Rangers home game of the season and a game with the Cup on the line, the price rockets up to $2,737.35.
Travis Hughes did some digging around StubHub and found some crazy prices as well, but if you're willing to sit in the cheap seats, you can save yourself some coin.
Things get a little crazier for Game 6, in which it's guaranteed that the Stanley Cup will be in the house -- potentially to be won by the Rangers. Tickets start at $1,368 but quickly skyrocket, with 94 StubHub listings priced north of $10,000. Twenty-four of those are more than $15,000 and eight are more than $20,000.
Being in the building to see your team win a championship is certainly a once-in-a-lifetime experience to be had, if you can afford it. Of course, a big screen HD television, a couple bags of chips and a 12-pack of your favorite brew will keep your wallet nice and heavy to spend on the overprice championship gear.
