Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh to be sidelined 3-4 weeks with separated shoulder

The New York Rangers' 1-0 loss to the Winnipeg Jets was a costly one for their defense. Not only did they lose Kevin Klein to a foot contusion, but captain Ryan McDonagh suffered a separated shoulder after a hit by Evander Kane:

McDonagh underwent an MRI on Sunday and according to Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault, the prognosis is that he'll miss 3-4 weeks.

The Rangers are currently hurting on defense. Klein won't play Monday versus St. Louis as he still has some swelling in the foot. Not to mention John Moore still has four games left on his suspension. But the good news is that Dan Boyle is inching closer to returning. While there's no timetable for him, he has been skating as he recovers from a broken hand.

In order to help out the blueline, odd-man out Ryan Malone was placed on waivers and Dylan McIlrath and Conor Allen were recalled from AHL Hartford.
