Five things to know about tonight's NHL games ...

1. Bobby Ryan vs. The Ducks. Ryan is off to the fastest start of his career. Because of the trade? Sorta. He knew he would play with Jason Spezza, so he worked hard to be a top liner and on his speed. "I felt like I got off to slow starts because I felt like I was a step behind, so I worked more on acceleration, things like that this summer, and it’s paid off.”

2. Letang Back. Kris Letang will make his season debut with the Penguins, and will be on the top power play unit with Paul Martin.

3. Clarkson Arrives. David Clarkson's 10-game suspension is over and he'll make his season debut for the Leafs -- on Wendel Clark's birthday no less.

4. Backing It Up. Eddie Lack gets the call against the Blues. Justin Peters gets an injury-promoted start for the Canes. Jhonas Enroth is in for the Sabres. Frederik Andersen goes for Anaheim, while Jeff Zatkoff plays for the Pens.

5. Scott Hearing. No John Scott for the Sabres, obviously. He's suspended until his hearing, which is on Halloween, because what's scarier than the NHL potentially seeing the need to send a message?
