Pekka Rinne makes incredible goal line stick save (Video)

Rinne

It doesn’t get much closer to a goal than what Max Domi had on Tuesday night in Nashville.

With the Arizona Coyotes on the power play, the shot from Domi was less a shot than a redirection, as the puck slid softly toward the open Nashville Predators’ goal. It glanced off the post, and looked like it would cross the goal line.

One problem: This dude named Pekka Rinne, who reached back with his paddle to the goal line to deflect the puck. It hit his blocker, and Rinne swept it out of harm’s way with his arm.

Was it a goal? Was it a save?

The NHL War Room checked it out and confirmed the call on the ice: No goal.

The puck was on edge, and it appeared there might be some white between the line and the puck before Rinne smacked it. But the video review said no goal, and all we have now are HDTVs, zoom edits and human eyes until they put those sensors in the puck …

P.S. - The Coyotes' power play was the result of a Rinne tripping penalty. He made up for it.
