NHL Three Stars: Richards leads Rangers past Kings; Oilers come back vs. Devils

No. 1 Star: Brad Richards, New York Rangers

Richards scored the Rangers' first two goals of their 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings as he attempts to bounce back from a tough 2013 campaign. His first goal came after hard work cashing in on a Rick Nash rebound. The second came thanks to Slava Voynov's stick:

No. 2 Star: David Perron, Edmonton Oilers

Perron's first goal as an Oiler came during a third period comeback en route to Edmonton's 5-4 shootout victory over the New Jersey Devils. Down 3-0 entering the final period, the Oilers scored four unanswered goals and then beat Martin Brodeur twice in the shootout, including one from Perron.

No. 3 Star: Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers

Making 28 stops and keeping the Kings to only one goal, Lundqvist helped the Rangers earn their first win of the season.

Honorable mention: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored a power play goal in his return to the Oilers lineup, which started their third period comeback ... Edmonton won 43 of 68 draws. Boyd Gordon won 18 of 26 ... Dallas Eakins earned his first career NHL coaching victory ... Damien Brunner scored his third goal for the Devils and added an assist. He has three of New Jersey's seven goals on the season ... Rick Nash recorded both primary assists on Brad Richards' goals ... Jaromir Jagr scored his first goal for the Devils after forcing a turnover in the defensive zone:

Did You Know? "Edmonton's victory helped the Oilers avoid their worst start since 1995 when they were 0-4." (AP)

Dishonorable mention: Jonathan Quick. Oh, Jonathan Quick. He's going to want this shorthanded goal by Ryan McDonagh back.
