NHL Three Stars: Kyle Turris, Patrick Marleau are playoff OT heroes

No. 1 Star: Kyle Turris, Ottawa Senators

The Senators forward played a role in the game-tying and game-winning goals in Ottawa’s improbable comeback in Game 4 against the Montreal Canadiens. Turris picked up an assist on Cory Conacher’s tying goal with 23 seconds remaining, and his presence in Carey Price’s crease was critical on the play. Then, at 2:32 of overtime, Turris scored his second of the playoffs past Habs backup Peter Budaj to give Ottawa a 3-2 win and a 3-1 series lead.

No. 2 Star: Patrick Sharp, Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks forward beat Josh Harding in the first period, and then beat his injury replacement Darcy Kuemper in the second period as Chicago shut out the Minnesota Wild, 3-0, behind 25 saves from Corey Crawford and 20 blocked shots from the Hawks. Chicago took a 3-1 series lead.

No. 3 Star: Patrick Marleau, San Jose Sharks

The Sharks forward came through again, scoring an overtime power-play goal at 13:18 to give San Jose a 4-3 win and a 4-0 series sweep of the Canucks. He now has four goals on the postseason.

Honorable mention: John Tavares scored his second of the playoffs at 10:11 of the third period and it proved to be the game-winner in the New York Islanders’ thrilling 6-4 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins to even their series at 2-2. Kyle Okposo scored goal No. 3, while Mark Streit had two goals and an assist. Casey Cizikas had three points and was a plus-4. … Pascal Dupuis scored his fourth for the Penguins. P.K Subban scored his first of the playoffs. … Joe Pavelski scored two goals.

Carey Price was injured moments before overtime; Budaj stepped in and gave up the game-winner on the second shot he faced. Josh Harding, meanwhile, was injured when Jonathan Toews fell on him and didn’t return for the second period. Darcy Kuemper took over and gave up two goals on 18 shots. … Mikko Koivu and Zach Parise were both minus-2. … Raphael Diaz was a minus-2. … Cory Schneider faced 47 shots. … Daniel Sedin was assessed a borderline boarding call in OT, and then was given a 10-minute misconduct at the end of the game for abuse of officials. … Marc-Andre Fleury gave up a few soft goals, and Coach Dan Bylsma wouldn’t commit to him for Game 5.
