NHL Three Stars: Huberdeau sparks Panthers; Islanders’ unlikely hero

No. 1 Star: Jonathan Huberdeau, Florida Panthers

The Panthers rookie had a 4-point night in Florida’s 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. He assisted on two goals by Peter Mueller and scored two of his own – including that sweet penalty shot above vs. Ilya Bryzgalov.

No. 2 Star: Matt Cullen, Minnesota Wild

The Wild forward scored twice and assisted on Devin Setoguchi’s goal as Minnesota defeated the Edmonton Oilers, 3-1.

No. 3 Star: Thomas Hickey, New York Islanders

Hickey was the beneficiary of a great pass by John Tavares that set up another great pass from Michael Grabner. But his overtime game-winner was his first NHL, as the Islanders defeated the Montreal Canadiens, 4-3. Matt Moulson scored twice; Max Pacioretty had two goals in the loss.
