NHL Three Stars: Hiller blanks Lightning; Kunitz’s pair leads Penguins

No. 1 Star: Jonas Hiller Anaheim Ducks

Behind Hiller's 31 saves and Ryan Getzlaf's overtime goal with 5.2 seconds left, the Ducks edged the Tampa Bay Lightning 1-0. The shutout was Hiller's first second of the season and 18th of his career. In the extra frame, Getzlaf got a little help from Richard Panik to make sure his shot went over the goal line (Keep an eye out for Corey Perry hip-checking the ref afterward):

No. 2 Star: Chris Kunitz, Pittsburgh Penguins

Kunitz was denied a goal for a first period natural hat trick, but two power play tallies 3:51 apart and an assist on Sidney Crosby's late go-ahead goal was good enough for a 4-3 win over the New York Islanders. Crosby finished with two points, including his 250th career goal which ended up as the winner:

No. 3 Star: Henrik Sedin, Vancouver Canucks

As it usually is when the Canucks score a bunch of goals, it was the Henrik and Daniel show. During their 6-2 rout of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Daniel finished with a goal and two assists, while Henrik put home his fifth and sixth goals of the year. It was the first time in six games that the Canucks scored more than two goals.

Honorable mention: Deserving of plenty of praise is Ben Bishop, who made 41 saves giving the Lightning a chance to take two road points in Anaheim ... Evgeni Malkin broke his 15-game goal drought with a second period marker .. Thomas Vanek had a pair of goals for the Islanders in his first game back from an upper-body injury ... Congratulations in order to Jeremy Welsh for scoring his first NHL goal ... Sean Monahan's goal in the sixth round of the shootout gave the Calgary Flames a 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers. Joe Colborne had a goal and an assist ... David Desharnais and Travis Moen each scored their first goals of the season as the Montreal Canadiens fended off a Washington Capitals to hang on for a 3-2 victory. Peter Budaj made 25 stops for his fourth win in his five starts on the season ... Alex Ovechkin scored his league-leading 18th and 19th goals for the Capitals in a losing effort ... Big scrap between Bran McGrattan and Krys Barch:
