NHL Three Stars: Fleury blanks Caps; Bob stands tall vs. Red Wings

No. 1 Star: Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh Penguins

Fleury earned his fifth shutout of the season and 28th of his career with a 32-save night as the Penguins beat the Washington Capitals 2-0 for the second time in as many nights. Goals from Jussi Jokinen and Sidney Crosby were enough as Pittsburgh won their third straight game and eighth in a row over Washington.

No. 2 Star: Sergei Bobrovsky, Columbus Blue Jackets

A three-goal third period helped power the Blue Jackets over the Detroit Red Wings 4-1. Bobrovsky made 39 saves for his fifth win in six starts. Columbus scored their three third period goals in a span of 5:48, kicked off by Boone Jenner's 12th of the season:

No. 3 Stars: Radim Vrbata, Phoenix Coyotes / Joe Pavelski, San Jose Sharks

Vrbata is heating up for the Coyotes and now has six points in his last four games after a three-point night during a 4-1 win over the Florida Panthers. His goal was his 19th of the season, second on the Coyotes. Phoenix has now won two straight on the road for the first time since Nov. 27-Dec. 3, according to the AP. Mike Smith made 31 saves in the win.

Three point nights from Joes Pavelski and Thornton helped the San Jose Sharks rout the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-2. Pavelski was also 13-for-15 in the face-off circle. Tommy Wingels finished with a Gordie Howe Hat Trick as 11 Sharks players recorded at least one point. Antti Niemi made 19 saves for his third win in a row.

Honorable mention: Shea Weber, Nick Spaling and Craig Smith each recorded a goal and an assist and Carter Hutton made 24 stops as the Nashville Predators downed the Buffalo Sabres 4-1. Smith's goal was his 20th of the season, a career high ... Cam Ward's 24 saves and two points each from Jiri Tlusty and Jordan Staal snapped the Carolina Hurricanes' 10-game losing streak to the New York Rangers as they won 3-1. Carolina's last win over New York came Jan. 20, 2011. Ward earned his first win since New Year's Eve ... Jaromir Jagr tallied his 124th career game-winning goal as the New Jersey Devils edged the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1. Martin Brodeur won his fourth straight start with a 30-save night. The win was also his 50th over the Flyers in his career. One of his 30 saves came via the no-look variety:

Jamie Benn's goal 3:42 into overtime gave the Dallas Stars an emotional 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues, one night after teammate Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench:

Jay Bouwmeester played in his 700th straight NHL game, the longest active streak among players in the four major sports ... A 3-0 Minnesota Wild first period lead was erased by the Edmonton Oilers, who completed the 4-3 comeback after a shootout. Taylor Hall beat Darcy Kuemper in the fourth round of the shootout as the Oilers won for the third time in four games ... Matt Cooke played in his 1,000th NHL game.

Dishonorable mention: Washington won only 15 of 47 face-offs ... Florida has now dropped 10 of 13 games ... The Flyers had the game-tying goal denied with 40.1 seconds remaining after officials deemed Scott Hartnell shoved Martin Brodeur and the puck over the goal line ... Blake Comeau will have a phone hearing with the Department of Player Safety for this boarding call on Brendan Smith ... Dion Phaneuf laid a big hit Tuesday night, but unfortunately it was on teammate James van Riemsdyk ... The Sharks and Tommy Wingels had an obvious goal called back thanks to "intent to blow."
