NHL Three Stars: Ducks, Jets come from behind, win in shootouts

No. 1 Star: Nick Bonino, Anaheim Ducks

Down 2-1 with 2:02 remaining in the third period, Bonino threw a puck on net from the point which found its way behind Mike Smith, who had no idea where it was. The goal forced overtime and the Ducks would edge the Phoenix Coyotes 3-2 after a shootout -- where Bonino would pot the first of Anaheim's four tallies -- for their sixth straight win:

No. 2 Star: Alex Steen, St. Louis Blues

Playing in his hometown of Winnipeg, with his dad in the building, Steen tied San Jose's Tomas Hertl for the NHL lead in goals (7) after scoring a pair in a losing effort for the Blues. He also put home one of two St. Louis goals in the shootout.

No. 3 Star: Olli Jokinen, Winnipeg Jets

Jokinen contributed in regulation and in the shootout as the Jets won in come-from-behind fashion 4-3 over the St. Louis Blues. After scoring the Jets' first goal of the game in the opening period, Jokinen sealed the extra point for Winnipeg with the deciding goal in the shootout.

Honorable mention: Teemu Selanne scored goal No. 677 and put one by Smith in the shootout ... Antoine Vermette was 22-for-29 in the face-off circle ... Smith made 37 saves in the loss ... Mike Ribeiro was up to his usual tricks with this nifty shootout goal:

The Jets took advantage of a pair of crazy bounces to help force overtime, including this double deflection that was credited to Evander Kane:

Dishonorable mention: Phoenix's power play went 0-for-6 ... Jacob Trouba had to leave the game on a stretcher early in the second period after missing a check and falling face-first into the boards. He was taken to a local hospital for x-rays and was said to be alert and moving his extremities ... Winnipeg later went down to four defensemen after Mark Stuart left the game after crashing into the post while trying to break up a pass.
