NHL Rivals: Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin and mutual animosity

As Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby prepare to battle on Wednesday night in a Metro Division showdown, NHL Rivals looked back at their mutual animosity and remarkable playoff series back in 2009:

Ovechkin has totaled 40 points in 31 games against Pittsburgh, and Crosby has posted 43 points in 25 games against Washington in the regular season.

In the postseason … well, Crosby had 8 goals and 5 assists in their only playoff meeting, while Ovechkin had 8 goals and 6 assists. But Crosby’s team was victorious and Ovechkin was stopped on a key breakaway in Game 7.

But we’ll always have you, double hat-trick game.
