NHL fines Red Wings' Teemu Pulkkinen $2,000 for diving/embellishment

Colin Campbell promised earlier this week that an NHL player would be fined for diving. It took longer than the 24 hours he originally said, but Teemu Pulkkinen of the Detroit Red Wings is the player.

The NHL announced the $2,000 fine on Friday, making Pulkkinen the first player to get dinged this season for diving/embellishent.

Pulkkinen had been warned once already this season by the league’s Hockey Operations Department, which came during the Oct. 24 game vs. Vancouver. The next infraction will cost him $3,000. A fourth will take not only $4,000 from his wallet, but $2,000 from Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill’s.

Pulkkinen is the second Red Wing to be fined in two seasons following Gustav Nyquist losing $2,000 of his own last January.
