NHL 3 Stars: Shutouts for Rinne, Price; Fehr on fire for Capitals

No. 1 Star: Carey Price, Montreal Canadiens

It was a goaltender's duel in the Sunshine State, and Price came out on top, stopping all 26 shots he faced in a 1-0 overtime win over the Florida Panthers. The lone goal came courtesy of Rene Bourque, who ruined Jose Theodore's shutout bid at 2:10 of the extra frame.

No. 2 Star: Eric Fehr, Washington Capitals

Fehr is on fire right now. Two nights after putting up a goal and an assist in a win over Florida, Fehr continued producing for the Capitals in a 4-3 victory over Tampa Bay, scoring twice. He now has 5 points in his last 3 games, all of which the Capitals have won. Mathieu Perrault added 3 assists for Washington.

No. 3 Star: Pekka Rinne, Nashville Predators

Rinne was his usual unbeatable self Thursday versus the Phoenix Coyotes, stopping 19 shots for his third shutout already this month and leading Nashville to a 3-0 win. He is very good.

Honourable mention: Joe Corvo had a goal and an assist as the Carolina Hurricanes halted the Toronto Maple Leafs' win streak with a 3-1 win. Colton Orr and Kevin Westgarth staged the fight of the night early in the first:

.. John Tavares scored once in regulation and once in the shootout as the New York Islanders topped the New York Rangers, 4-3, for their first victory at MSG in 9 tries... Matt Duchene of the Colorado Avalanche scored a game-tying goal, then finished the Minnesota Wild off in the shootout in a 4-3 win.

Dishonourable mention: Chris Mason did a live interview from the Nashville bench in the third period of the Predators/Coyotes game and was asked about a series of saves Mike Smith made late in the second.
