Monday’s Three Stars: Quick blanks Devils, Kings take 3-0 series lead

No. 1 Star: Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings

As the Los Angeles Kings put one hand on the Stanley Cup with a 4-0 win over the New Jersey Devils in Game 3, Quick put one hand on the Conn Smythe Trophy with his third shutout of the playoffs. Quick made 22 saves, including this kick save on Zach Parise:

No. 2 Star: Anze Kopitar, Los Angeles Kings

If Quick is the Conn Smythe frontrunner, then Kopitar is a solid No. 2 right now. Kopitar tallied his eighth goal of the playoffs late in the first period to give L.A. a 2-0 lead:

No. 3 Star: Justin Williams, Los Angeles Kings

Williams' third goal of the playoffs gave the Kings a 4-0 early in the third period and had the Staples Center crowd dreaming of Stanley.

Honorable mention: The Kings became the first NHL team to go up 3-0 for a fourth straight series ... The Kings capitalized on both of their power plays with Jeff Carter and Williams cashing in. Entering Game 3, L.A.'s power play was 6-for-77 ... In his first game since Dec. 26, Simon Gagne played 6:39 and took three shots.

Dishonorable mention: Someone tell the Staples Center PA guy when Wayne Gretzky became a King ... New Jersey will need to become the fourth team in NHL history to come back from a 0-3 series deficit ... In their five Stanley Cup Final appearances, the Devils had never lost three games in a row. They hadn't lost three consecutive games this season since February.
