Lokomotiv Memorial Night featuring current, former NHL stars raises money for youth hockey schools

On Saturday night inside Kolping Arena in Kloten, Switzerland, the Kloten Flyers of the National League A hosted a team of world all-stars to honor the memories of the victims of last September's Lokomotiv Yaroslavl plane crash.

A crowd of 5,293 watched the world team, made up of such stars as Sergei Fedorov, Sandis Ozolinsh, Darius Kasparaitis, Evgeni Malkin, Ilya Kovalchuk, Ilya Bryzgalov, Alex Radulov and Alexei Kovalev, among others, defeat Kloten 9-6. Radulov netted four goals.

Via YouTube user "Fading2009," here's some of the atmosphere before, during and after the game:

Notice that on the boards around the rink are names of the victims.

Alexander Zakhanov, a Lokomotive spokesman said afterward, via EuroHockey: "It touches us deeply that such an impressive event was realized in Switzerland to honor our dead friends."

After the game, Granite Group, which organized the game, gave both sides an honorary CHF 40,000 check (approximately $41,000 USD), with the money raised going to benefit youth developmental schools for Lokomotiv and Kloten.
