Leafs’ Lupul attempts elbow on Henrik Sedin, hits Nazem Kadri instead (Video)

The Sedins are annoying. They just are, these weird, identical twins with their perfectly-maintained, bright orange goatees, zipping around the ice, making spiffy little passes to each other. You can understand why an opponent might eventually decide enough is enough and try to take one's head off.

On Saturday, Joffrey Lupul finally decided he'd seen enough, and he went after Henrik Sedin, elbow out. Unfortunately, he missed Sedin. And connected instead with the face of Nazem Kadri.

Ouch. Shades of John Scott, except that Scott had the sense to do it to a guy on the other team. Although, by hitting a teammate, Lupul avoids a likely suspension here. He may be a genius.

Or maybe this was just Lupul's way of waking Kadri up. The Leafs' center didn't have a single shot on goal in the first period. A good way to get a teammate's head in the game? Elbow it. That seems like something Randy Carlyle would coach.

Thanks to friend of the blog Tyler Dellow for the Vine of this comedy of errors.
