Leafs' Belak heads to Florida for pick

The veteran Wade Belak plays both on defense and forward, but the biggest asset he brings to the Panthers is toughness. The 31-yaer-old, due to be an unrestricted free agent who is making $625,000 this season, will be playing for his fourth NHL franchise.

He spent all or parts of the last seven seasons with Toronto, scoring seven goals in 318 games. According to hockeyfights.com, the Panthers have been involved in 34 fights this season, ranked 16th in the league and Belak earned six fighting majors with the Leafs this season.

The 6-foot-5, 221-pound native of Saskatoon, who has played in only cold-weather cities (Colorado, Calgary, Toronto) had a goal in 38 games with the Maple Leafs this season.
