KHL goalie nearly goes the full Tuukka after loss (Video)

Mikhail Biryukov is a goalie for HC Urga in the Kontinental Hockey League, and like most KHL goalies his life is filled with frustration.

He faced 37 shots to his opponent’s 29 shots in Urga’s 4-3 loss to CSKA on Monday. After the game, Biryukov expressed his frustration and we’re afraid his crossbar will never be the same.

Goalie sticks aren’t exactly made of kindling, and hence aren’t easy to break. So this tantrum resembled that moment in pro wrestling when the one guy gets thrown into a table that hasn’t been subtly sawed in half, and just spine-plants on it.

Obviously the recent gold standard for goalie tantrums is Boston Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask, back when he was in the AHL. Not to get all Eddie O. here, but all you young goalies out there please take note that you have to continue the tantrum back at the benches to really make your point.

Remember kids: This man won the Vezina. There’s always hope…
