Kasperi Kapanen, Sami's son, scores amazing between-the-legs OT goal (Video)

Earlier this week on the Marek vs. Wyshynski podcast, the boys asked listeners about their "I feel so old" moments in hockey. One of those moments for me is every year at the NHL Draft when we see the list of former player's sons who have now entered the league.

Case in point, Kasperi Kapanen. The 17-year old Finn will be available in the Draft this June in Philadelphia. If his last name sounds familiar it's because he's the son of Sami, who retired last week from hockey. You might be of the age where you remember the entirety of Sami's career, so seeing his son prosper at a high level certainly will make you feel even older.

Last week, while playing in the bronze medal game of the Finnish U-18 league with KalPa, the younger Kapanen won the game in overtime with an amazing individual effort ending with a between-the-legs finish:

Takes out the guy carrying the puck with a hustle on the backcheck. Then goes the other way to score? What an effort.

There is a very, very good chance that this goal appears on our "Top 10 Goals of the Year" post in December. He didn't even need the creative finish to make this a candidate. The deking between the defense alone made it worthy enough.

Expect to see this one on a number of highlight packages while Kapanen is waiting to be selected by an NHL team this June.
