Julius Hudacek, Orebro teammates celebrate win with 'YMCA' dance (Video)
Orebro goaltender Julius Hudacek is a Puck Daddy favorite. You might recall some of the post-game celebrations he’s done so far this season, like leap-frogging with his backup, performing the “Macarena,” or pretending to go ice fishing, among others.
On Saturday, Orebro beat Frolunda 4-2 is a key Swedish Hockey League matchup. Hudacek made 30 saves for his 21st win of the year; and afterward, he debuted a new celebration, with a little help from some teammates:
That was Viktor Ekbom, Marko Anttila, Derek Ryan, Johan Adolfsson, and Jakub Krejcik joining in the post-game festivities. (You can never go wrong dressing up as the Village People and performing “YCMA.” It’s a known fact that it’s a crowd favorite.)
You might be wondering what’s up with Orebro’s colorful jerseys. Well, Saturday’s game was their “Pride Match,” featuring rainbow jerseys in support of the LGBT community.
“No matter where you were born, what religon you have, what culture you belong to, what disability you have, what sexual orientation you have or what your family situation, you can expect to Örebro Hockey respect you and treat you equally.”
Aside from the game, the team participated in a local Pride parade, sold limited edition Pride-related merchandise and held a lecture on LGBT topics.
Fellow Swedish side Kiruna IF, an inspiration behind this event for Orebro, have been sporting rainbow jerseys all season long in support of acceptance and diversity in Swedish hockey.
