Jonathan Toews ‘good’ after crashing Mercedes Benz in downtown Chicago

Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews is out of the lineup with what the team will only refer to as an "upper body injury" but that others have decoded to mean "conucussion." Many fans recoiled, then, when hearing that Toews had crashed his AMG Mercedes Benz at the intersection of Lake and Garvey in downtown Chicago, colliding with a support beam for the 'L' train.

The accident was first reported by Selfish Indulgence, which had a co-editor near the scene to snag some images.

According to Jay Zawaski of 670 The Score, the accident happened near a parking garage close to where Toews resides:

Though various eyewitness reports and Chicago police information, I can confirm that Toews was indeed involved in the accident. Eyewitnesses say Toews left the scene in an ambulance, though the Blackhawks deny that report. According to Chicago Police, it is NOT protocol to take a victim away in an ambulance regardless of medical state. Regardless, all reports have Toews unhurt. Witnesses were even asking Toews for his autograph before police interfered.

Chicago sports fans will not be deterred by your potential head injuries, sir!

The Blackhawks, through Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune, said that "Toews was in a minor one-car collision in downtown Chicago this morning ... He was not injured." Kuc also got in touch with Toews, who said "I'm good." (The rest of the NHL: "We know.")

So that's that, hopefully. Although judging from the photo, there is still an outside chance that Jonathan Toews is Batman. ("You don't read the papers much, do you Mr. Toews?")
