Jaromir Jagr’s agent comments on NJ Devils rumor

According to a Czech media report, Jaromir Jagr visited the Prudential Center in Newark on Thursday to “inspect” the facility, as the free agent winger continues to search for his next hockey home.

Will it be with the New Jersey Devils?

His agent, Petr Svoboda, wouldn’t confirm nor deny that Jagr was at The Rock. But he said, coyly, that there was “a possibility he was there” on Thursday.

The Devils obviously could use the offensive help – and presence on the power play – after the departure of Ilya Kovalchuk to the KHL. The Devils have a number of Czech players on their team, including Jagr’s Olympic teammate Patrik Elias, but Svoboda said that isn’t a factor in his decision.

What is? A chance to win, first and foremost, according to the agent. But also a “team that appreciates his services,” which probably translates into “significant top six minutes” for Jagr.

“He wants to play,” said Svoboda.

A decision from Jagr could be on its way shortly. “I don’t want to put a time frame on it. It’s up to him. Fairly soon,” said Svoboda.

Can we expect another creepy, spooky Facebook video that announces his decision?

Svoboda said that social media outlet is “out of his control.”
