How much bonus money did LA Kings get for Stanley Cup win?

To the victor goes the playoff bonus pool money in the NHL, and Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports what the Los Angeles Kings are going to make for their 2014 Stanley Cup championship: 

In the time between when they lifted the trophy in 2012 and again last week, the NHL’s playoff bonus pool was doubled to $13 million as part of the new collective bargaining agreement. What that means for the Kings is that they will soon receive $3.75 million to distribute among themselves.

Precisely how that money is split up varies from team to team — roster sizes aren’t consistent and some choose to include Black Aces in their winning share — but every Kings regular can expect to receive in excess of $100,000 following an historical playoff run.

Every team in the playoffs gets some form of bonus money. The New York Rangers, for their Eastern Conference Final win, received $2.25 million, which hopefully will go directly to Henrik Lundqvist’s chiropractor after all that spinal trauma while carrying the team for four rounds.

The Montreal Canadiens and Chicago Blackhawks get $1.25 million each, or one Brandon Bollig. The second round losers get $500,000 each while teams that lost in the first round receive $250,000.

We’re sure that $12,000 apiece will be a nice silver lining for the San Jose Sharks. Or probably not.
