Henrik Lundqvist out for Bruins game, day-to-day with neck injury
The New York Rangers shared good news on Wednesday afternoon, for the most part.
Goalie Henrik Lundqvist is day-to-day with a neck injury. He’ll miss his start against the Boston Bruins, with Cam Talbot getting the nod.
The injury stems from that super scary puck to the neck he took in a game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. Lundqvist seemed to be OK afterward.
“When I get hit, obviously it’s painful, and it’s hard to breath for a couple of minutes. Very light-headed. I got a little worried the first minute or so but then they told me just to breath and slowly I started to feel better,” he said.
“The first couple of minutes it was more for me to just see is it going to start to feel better after a while. I slowly did. I had some headaches the rest of the game, I guess that’s normal because I couldn’t breath there for a little bit. It was a reaction, I guess.”
The following day, he tweeted “I’ll prob stick to soup today, feel pretty good though.”
On Monday, he took a maintenance day away from practice. On Tuesday, he saw a specialist, and the prognosis is day-to-day. At least, for now.
