Florida moves Salei to Colorado for Skrastins, pick

In a swap of 33-year-old veteran defensemen, ironman Karlis Skrastins goes in exchange for Ruslan Salei, who was in his second year with the Panthers after spending his first nine seasons in Anaheim. Skrastins, 33, 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, has appeared in 582 career games, including 43 this season.

Both are defensive defensemen, Straskins averaging 18:02 of ice time for the Avalanche while Salei was logging 23:17 per game in Florida. The 6-1, 212-pound Salei has 160 points in 741 career games. Skrastins broke Tim Horton's mark for consecutive games played by a defenseman in 2007.
