First World Cup of Hockey commercial hits the air (Video)

The revamped World Cup of Hockey arrives in September.

The rosters have been partially revealed, as have the jerseys for the eight teams. Now comes the hard part: Marketing this thing so fans are willing to pay over $3,200 CA for the cheapest two tickets in the building. (Which are currently available, by the way.)

Here’s the first World Cup of Hockey commercial, which debuted this week during NHL coverage in the U.S. and Canada. It features some of the players expected to appear in the tournament, and sets up the whole thing as a prideful battle between warring hockey nations. Which, of course, is fantastic when the words “BADGE OF HONOR!” are spoken while we see the Team North America and Team Europe jerseys, whose badges were honorable invented about 15 minutes ago for this tournament.

Also, the commercial tells us that these players aren’t just players but they’re “pillars,” which we can only assume means that Rob Scuderi will be taking part in this event.

Head here for World Cup of Hockey tickets, provided you can secure that second mortgage on your home.
