EIHL player tries to attack opponent in penalty box, claims he was bitten (Video)

Devin DiDiomete of the EIHL’s Manchester Storm was sent to the penalty box in the first period of Sunday’s game for a check to the head of Fife Flyers forward and associate coach Danny Stewart.

Stewart joined him going off the ice, but DiDiomete was only there briefly before being told he was ejected.

As DiDiomete went to the dressing room, he decided instead to head to the Fife penalty box and get one last lick in on Stewart as the two continued to chirp one another. If you're going to sit for the final 40 minutes, might as well get your money's worth, right?

The league’s Department of Player Safety is reviewing incident and will have even more to look over after Manchester lodged a complaint on Tuesday that DiDiomete was bit -- though the statement on the team’s website does not identify Stewart as the biter.

The EIHL DoPS is expected to announce a decision some time on Wednesday.

UPDATE: Stewart responded to the accusation, via Fife Today, by saying, “Guys lose their cool - it’s happened to me before and I’ve no issues with that. As far as the accusations go I’m really offended. It’s disgusting to make false accusations to justify your actions.”
