Does Martin Hanzal’s hit on Jamie Benn deserve supplemental discipline? (VIDEO)

Late in the third period of Saturday night's 2-1 Phoenix Coyotes win over the Dallas Stars, Jamie Benn took a hit from Martin Hanzal that may require some supplemental discipline from the NHL.

Reminds you a lot of the Mike Richards on David Booth hit, doesn't it?

The hit is late and Hanzal does make contact with Benn's head. It's tough, however, to determine the principle point of contact is Benn's head or chest. Hanzal was not penalized on the play and Benn did not return for the final 1:27 of the game.

After the game, Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan didn't like the hit. "I thought it was late but it's not for me to decide," he said, via Stars Inside Edge.

The Stars have not released any up on Benn just yet.

Phoenix and Dallas each do not play another game until Tuesday.

UPDATE: The Stars says Benn will be "re-assessed" on Sunday, according to Mike Heika.
