Dmitry Kulikov suspended four games for clipping Tyler Seguin

Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov flipped (or clipped, which would be the correct definition) Dallas forward Tyler Seguin in a Friday night game. So on Monday, the NHL flipped Kulikov a four-game suspension for the play.

Do your thing Patrick Burke:

A few issues that Burke notes. For one, Kulikov “bends severely at the waist and throws his body across Seguin’s knees.”

Though the NHL points out that a hip check is legal if it is delivered properly, it is “illegal to deliver any bodycheck at or below the knees.”

Also, the league adds that Seguin suffered an injury on the play – one that will merit an absence of three-to-six weeks.

Was four games enough? It was a dirty looking play, without question, but as the NHL points out, Kulikov has no history of discipline during his NHL career.

See ya four games later, Dmitry.
