Devils come back to beat Ducks thanks to overtime own goal (Video)

As of right now, the New Jersey Devils are in a playoff position in the Eastern Conference. This is the same squad that started the season 0-4-3 and heard the rumblings of head coach Peter DeBoer's future in question. Oh, the benefits of being in the Metropolitan Division!

On Wednesday night, the Devils used dramatics and luck to beat the Anaheim Ducks 4-3 in overtime.

First, down 3-2 late in the third period, New Jersey got a goal from Jaromir Jagr with 61 seconds left to force overtime:

Then in overtime, Martin Brodeur robbed Mathieu Perreault on the doorstop with a great glove save:

Minutes later, the game ended on a freak play. After Jonas Hiller denied Travis Zajac's kicking attempt, the puck was left just outside the Anaheim crease when Ducks defenseman Ben Lovejoy attempted to clear it, only to see it deflect off Corey Perry and into his own net:

Zajac would get credit for the goal.

Tough way to lose for the Ducks as they have now gone 0-3-2 in their last five games, but hold on to their top spot in the Western Conference standings.
